Q. How old is Lake View Hotel?
A. Lake View was built in 1858 and is the oldest continuously operated hotel on Mackinac Island. 2017 marks our 159th anniversary.

Q. Where is Lake View Hotel located?
A. We are conveniently located on Main Street, in the heart of downtown Mackinac Island, directly across the street from where the ferry boats arrive.

Q. Are you located on the water?
A. We are across the street from the lakeshore.

Q. How close are you to the ferry docks?
A. We are across the street from Shepler's and Star Line. Arnold's ferry service is a couple of blocks down the street.

Q. When does the last ferry leave for the Island?
A. It depends on the time of season. In the off-season, the last boat leaves the island at 4:30 PM. In-season, the last boat leaves for Mackinaw City and St. Ignace generally by 8:30 PM. Check with the ferry boat services for more information.

Q. How much are ferry tickets?
A. For the 2017 season, tickets at all ferry lines are $25.00 per adult and $12.00 per child. AAA member prices are $24.00 per adult and $11.50 per child. 2017 prices are subject to change.

Q. Where do I park my car?
A. Each of the ferry lines offer several day trip or overnight parking options on their property including ample free parking, as well as secured or covered parking.

Q. Do you have an area to store bikes?
A. Yes. Lake View Hotel has bike racks surrounding the back and side of the hotel. Please bring your own lock if you want to secure your bicycle.

Q. Do you rent bikes?
A. The Mackinac Island Bike Shop is located on the Hoban Street side of the hotel. You may make advance reservations with your room booking to ensure availability by calling (906) 847-6337 anytime.

Q. Do you have any suites or adjoining rooms?
A. We have several large rooms that have separate seating areas and a Presidential Suite with a living room, but none of our guest rooms adjoin to other rooms.

Q. Do you have an elevator?
A. Yes, to all four levels.

Q. Do you have a pool?
A. Yes. We have a beautiful, four story Atrium which encloses an indoor heated swimming pool, whirlpool, and dry sauna.

Q. Do you have a restaurant and bar?
A. Yes. Goodfellow's Italian Chophouse serves breakfast, lunch and dinner seven days a week. We also have a covered and elevated outdoor deck for dining that offers views of Main Street. Adjoining the Chophouse is Wings and Things, a bar and grille that serves up zestier fare. On the corner of Main Street and Hoban, our Wine Cellar offers a full service wine tasting bar, with wine flights, an extensive flatbread pizza menu for lunch, an upscale dinner menu with wine pairings, and the only retail wine gift shop on the island.

Q. Do any of your rooms have balconies?
A. No, however many rooms surround our Atrium, and provide lovely views from our interior hallways.

Q. Are your rooms air-conditioned?
A. All eighty five guest rooms are air conditioned.

Q. Do you have No Smoking rooms?
A. Lake View Hotel is completely smoke-free.

Q. Do you allow pets?
A. Seeing eye dogs are welcome, though pets are not allowed.

Q. Do you have specially priced packages?
A. Yes. We have several getaway packages throughout the season. Check out our 2017 Special Packages.

Q. Are you open in the winter?
A. Lake View's season runs from early May to late-October, though our reservations office remains open all year.

Q. When do you start taking reservations?

Q. What is your cancellation policy?

Q. Do you have baby-sitting services?
A. No. Insurance regulations prevent us from offering these services.

Q. Where can we rent horses?
A. Riding stables are located one block behind the hotel.

Q. How far is it around the island?
A. About 8 miles around. It takes a good hour to navigate by bicycle.

Q. Does the island have public beaches?
A. The shores of Mackinac Island are subject to the whims of Mother Nature. Sometimes small beaches form on the north end of the island where you can lay out in the sun and wade into the water on finely crushed pebble. At other times, large gravel and rocks get pushed up onto the shores which makes it more challenging to enjoy.

Q. How far is it to Grand Hotel or Mission Point?
A. It's a good 15 minute walk in either direction of Lake View Hotel.

Q. What time is Mass?
A. Saint Anne's: 5:30 PM Saturday in season, 9:00 AM and 11:00 AM Sunday; Trinity Church (Episcopal): 7:30 AM and 10:30 AM Sunday.

Q. When is the Lilac Festival?
A. The 68th annual is June 9-18, 2017. Call 1 800 4 LILACS for more information regarding this fun-filled annual 10 day event.

Q. What time are fireworks for the 4th of July?
A. 10:00 PM

Q. When is the best time to come for fall foliage?
A. Typically, mid to late September.

Q. What is there to do at night at the hotel?
A. Sunset bike rides are available with rentals from Mackinac Island Bike Shop. Our pool is open till 10:00 pm. Goodfellow's Wings and Things is open till 2:00 AM most nights and often has live entertainment. Many people also like to relax on our rocker-lined, covered front porch.

A. Mackinac Island has approximately 400 year round residents.
